Festivities Galore: A variety of events to celebrate the holidays this week

2 min read March 2023 — The next seven days will welcome the celebration of two major holidays, and Broward County has no shortage of events for residents and families to enjoy. Invest: explores several of the notable Passover and Easter related festivities and happenings taking place in Greater Fort Lauderdale this week. 

Community Passover Seder at the Las Olas Chabad Jewish Center

To enjoy a community seder in the Venice of America, the Las Olas Chabad Jewish Center is hosting a seder complete with hand-baked Matzah, wine and all the traditional foods expected at a Passover seder. The event will take place April 5 at 7:30PM. Tickets are $100 and $50 for those under the age of 12.

YJP Las Olas Pesach Seder 

Those looking for a community seder that is free of charge should head over to Young Jewish Professionals of Las Olas. YJP is an organization of young Jewish people in the Fort Lauderdale area whose goal is to strengthen and promote Jewish pride and culture. They will host two Passover, or Pesach, seders. One will be on April 5 at 7PM and the other on April 6 at the same time.

Sawgrass Mills – Breakfast with the Easter Bunny

Residents and visitors seeking something fun to do with the kids for Easter can head over to the Sawgrass Mills mall and have breakfast with the Easter Bunny. The breakfast will begin at 8AM on Saturday, April 8, and will go on until 10AM. Admissions are $25.95 for adults, $18.87 for kids ages four through 10 and free for kids younger than three. Patrons can enjoy breakfast brought to them by Rainforest Cafe and have their picture taken with the Easter Bunny to remember the day. Kids are given goodie bags to take home as well.

“EGG-SPLORATIONS” Annual Egg Hunt by the Museum of Discovery and Science

Another event happening on Saturday, April 8, is the Egg-splorations Annual Egg Hunt hosted by the Museum of Discovery and Science (MODS). The egg hunt will be staggered by age and will have groups for ages two to three, four to five, six to seven and eight through 10. For kids that are interested in science, there are also various egg engineering challenges that will be held, one of which will be the egg drop challenge where a participant must ensure that an egg is intact after it is launched in the air. Guests will have the opportunity to see the resident rabbits at MODS and other wildlife as well. For MODS members, tickets are $10 per child. For non-members, it is $30 per child plus museum admission. Adults must also pay museum admission.
