Invest: Boston leadership summit to highlight Greater Boston’s competitiveness

Boston October 2024 — The vibrant business landscape of Boston will be on full display at the Invest: Boston 2024 Launch Conference, taking place on Friday, Nov. 15, from 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the UMass Club. The networking and panel event marks the second release of Capital Analytics’ comprehensive report on Greater Boston and Massachusetts’ key industries.

The conference will bring together the state’s top industry and community leaders to discuss the business environment, challenges and growth strategies. Attendees will gain a deeper understanding of Boston’s unique advantages, from its highly skilled workforce to its culture of innovation, and how these factors are fueling growth in some of the region’s most dynamic sectors. The event will highlight Boston’s ability to attract global companies and top talent, while addressing the challenges that come with rapid development and technological disruption.

From CEOs of major industries to leading academics, this annual report serves as an essential resource for businesses and investors seeking to navigate Boston’s dynamic economy. It highlights the region’s competitiveness and critical initiatives, including its push in life sciences, tech innovation, climate and sustainability,” said Capital Analytics’ President & CEO Abby Lindenberg Melone.

Registration starts at 8:00 a.m., followed by an hour-long networking session accompanied by a full American breakfast. 

Panelists speaking at Invest: Nashville launch conference in 1Q23

The first panel, titled “Integral Players: How life sciences and higher education are shaping Boston’s future, and the challenges ahead,” will be presented by Steven Larochelle, CEO of Enterprise Bank. Panelists include Sohail Masood, founder, chairman and CEO of KabaFusion, and Julie Chen, chancellor of UMass Lowell, among others. They will explore the integral role that life sciences and educational institutions play in Boston’s continued growth, and the opportunities and obstacles the city faces in staying competitive on a global scale.

The second panel, “Development Reimagined: The evolution of space in a changing city, and what Boston’s forward-thinking leaders are creating,” will be moderated by Will Andronico, managing principal at Baker Tilly. Panelists Reetika Vijay, managing principal of IA Interior Architects, and Chanda Smart, CEO of Onyx Group, will discuss Boston’s approach to rethinking urban spaces in the context of sustainability, affordability, and future growth.

The final panel, “Tech Influence: How technology is transforming lending decisions and reshaping Boston’s business landscape,” will be moderated by LGA’s Growth Leader Chris MacKenzie. Featured speakers Joseph Campanelli, chairman, president and CEO of Needham Bank; Ryan Bailey, president and CEO at Cambridge Savings Bank; and Rockland Federal Credit Union President & CEO Kristin VanBeek, will share insights on how advancements in technology are changing the financial services industry and what it means for the future of lending and banking in Boston.

Hundreds of high-level guests and officials from across the region are expected to attend the in-person conference.
