Healthcare access on the rise in Palm Beach County
Writer: Pablo Marquez

May 2025 — Palm Beach County is quickly emerging as a national leader in healthcare, with institutions at the forefront of innovative research and residents accessing top medical care around the country. And to meet the needs of the region’s fast-growing and aging population, healthcare providers are expanding their services and upgrading their facilities.
“This is not just about healthcare quality — it’s also about economic impact,” said Lewis Nelson, dean of the Florida Atlantic Schmidt College of Medicine, in a recent interview with Invest: that covered Florida Atlantic’s community healthcare initiatives. “By developing world-class academic healthcare locally, we keep both patients and healthcare spending in Florida, strengthening our regional economy.”
Home to 5,656 healthcare companies, Palm Beach County supports 79,647 jobs with an average salary of $75,651 and contributes $7.3 billion to the gross regional product, according to data compiled by the Business Development Board of Palm Beach County.

Cleveland Clinic is expanding its presence in Palm Beach County with a $500 million fundraising campaign to support the development of a new inpatient hospital and a larger outpatient facility. The planned hospital will feature around 150 inpatient beds, an emergency department, a medical office building, and an ambulatory surgery center, all located on newly acquired land near Clear Lake in West Palm Beach. Additionally, Cleveland Clinic will lease space at 15 CityPlace for a new 120,000-square-foot outpatient center — nearly four times the size of its current Health Center. NYU Langone Health planning new state-of-the-art ambulatory care facility
NYU Langone Health announced plans to open a new state-of-the-art ambulatory care facility in South Florida, made possible by a $75 million gift from the Julia Koch Family Foundation. Scheduled to open in 2026, the West Palm Beach location will be NYU Langone’s first new Florida site since 2017. The eight-story facility will feature 77,000 square feet of clinical space, accommodate 50 physicians, and is expected to serve approximately 150,000 patients annually. The center will offer on-demand specialty care across a wide range of services, including internal medicine, primary care, oncology, and pain management.
“Since our arrival in 2017, demand continues to grow in Florida for the exceptional care our teams are already known for in New York. We are excited to meet that need, and Julia Koch and her family have been with us every step of the way. Thanks to the incredible generosity of the Julia Koch Family Foundation, we will be able to offer even more patients one high standard of care in a beautiful new location where our teams can seamlessly coordinate between Florida and New York,” said Robert Grossman, CEO of NYU Langone and dean of NYU Grossman School of Medicine, in a news announcement.
