The Regional Economic Sentiment Index, drawn from the Invest: Business Sentiment Survey, tracks perceptions of economic strength across 20 U.S. metro areas. It is based on a standardized question posed to senior executives and public officials featured in Invest: reports, asking them to rate the strength of their regional economy on a scale of 1 to 5.
From April through June 2026, monthly sentiment averages ranged from 4.13 to 4.20 out of 5. The second-quarter rebound followed a February dip to 3.76 tied to AI disruption concerns and a broader tech stock sell-off. Overall, the quarterly index climbed to 4.13 — its highest reading in three quarters and a marked recovery from the first quarter.
