Invest: Nashville to highlight latest investment activity and leader insights shaping Middle Tennessee

March 2025 — As Nashville and Middle Tennessee’s growth accelerates, business leaders and public officials are doubling down on the region’s competitive advantages to drive long-term growth economic expansion.

A national hub for healthcare, technology, and entertainment, Nashville has been one of the fastest-growing metro areas in the United States. Known for its vibrant music scene, world-class universities, and business-friendly environment, the city is a magnet for both companies and talent. Now in its research phase, the latest edition of Invest: Nashville is gathering insights from key industry leaders to explore the opportunities and challenges shaping Middle Tennessee’s economy, from infrastructure and workforce development to innovation and investment trends.

“Nashville’s energy, creativity, and entrepreneurial spirit make it a powerhouse for growth across industries, while Mayor Freddie O’Connell and key organizations like HCA Healthcare, Middle Tennessee State University, and the Tennessee Chamber of Commerce & Industry, among others, set the tone for the region’s future success,” said Abby Lindenberg, founder and CEO of caa.

Despite economic uncertainties, business confidence remains stable in Nashville’s core sectors. In fall 2024, the Tennessee Business Barometer Survey by MTSU’s Jones College of Business produced a score of 476, up 33 points from the spring survey and a steady climb from the inaugural survey index of 325 in July 2015. Companies are navigating challenges such as tariff impacts and a higher interest rate environment, among other conditions, yet Nashville’s economic diversity and resilience continue to drive business expansion and investment.

While Tennessee’s overall population is projected to reach nearly 8 million by 2040, Middle Tennessee is expected to see even faster growth, fueled by both domestic migration and international newcomers. These trends highlight the need for strategic planning to support infrastructure, housing, and workforce development to maintain the region’s momentum.

Invest: Nashville aims to capture these insights and more through in-depth interviews and sector analysis, offering a comprehensive look at the forces shaping the region’s future.
