Nicole Taylor, Chief Community Officer, Riverstone Logistics (RLX)

Nicole Taylor, Chief Community Officer, Riverstone Logistics (RLX)In an interview with Invest:, Nicole Taylor, chief community officer of Riverstone Logistics (RLX), discussed the company’s relocation to Rock Hill, its growth strategy, and how technology is shaping its next phase. “Keeping up with technology has certainly been a challenge, but I think it has been a challenge for everyone,” Taylor said.

What made Rock Hill the right location for RLX’s new headquarters?

Charlotte has been an important part of Riverstone’s story, and we’re grateful for our time here. We’re not going far. As we looked at our future needs, Rock Hill kept surfacing as the opportunity that aligned with our vision for growth, our culture, and our long-term investment. We searched for a long time, and it’s the place we couldn’t look away from. It’s the right fit for where we are as a company and where we’re headed.

What advantages does the region offer for a logistics company like RLX?

With any major decision, we weigh a range of factors, but what ultimately drove this one was finding the right home for our people, our culture, and our future growth. Our purpose as a company is to use our God-given talents and opportunities to love our neighbors, serve our community, and improve the industry. That love, serve, and improve focus is exactly what we saw in the Rock Hill opportunity.

What have you learned about the business climate in Rock Hill and York County?

We’re just beginning to learn. There was real due diligence behind the headquarters decision, but the deeper learning starts now, as we immerse ourselves in the community, meet our neighbors, and become a good partner. That process actually started two years ago, when we began the search for our next home. We see real opportunity in Rock Hill and can’t wait to lock arms with its leaders, businesses, and organizations. We’re also focused on community service, particularly around vulnerable children through the Riverstone Foundation. We were already supporting organizations in Rock Hill, so in some ways we’re already part of the community. We can’t wait to see that deepen when we move at the end of summer.

What industries or opportunities are creating momentum for the region and for RLX?

There’s a real focus on sustainable growth in Rock Hill, and that resonated with us because we’re pursuing the same thing as a company. We’re nine years old, and our priority is building a headquarters that supports our team today and positions us for whatever growth looks like in the years ahead. Rock Hill already has a lot going on, and you can see the potential building. That alignment is what made this feel like the right fit.

What trends are you seeing among your customers that give you confidence about future growth?

We’re a big and bulky logistics provider, so when spending on things like appliances and furniture slows, or the housing market softens, we see it first. In 2025, when many logistics companies saw declines, we still grew 25%. We recently reached 100% network coverage across the U.S., and we’re repositioning to serve the full range of clients who need big and bulky delivery.

How would you describe the talent pool in the market, and what makes the region attractive to employees?

We’re moving at the end of summer, and we already have incredible people, including about 800 employees across the country and a strong team at headquarters. We’re excited to grow that by drawing talent from the region. We’re constantly hiring, and we’re putting our flag in the ground in Rock Hill. The new space is one people are going to want to work in thanks to the Keith Corporation and their reimagining of this building. We are doing our part to pay tribute to the history that took place in this space. It’s coming together, and it looks incredible.

How are technology, automation, AI, and data analytics shaping RLX’s operations?

This is part of our broader repositioning. We’ve built a fully optimized platform for our customers that extends to a seamless experience for their customers too, and serving 100% of U.S. ZIP codes through it has set us apart. We recently relaunched our website to be AI-optimized. Keeping pace with technology is a challenge for everyone right now, not just us. Our focus isn’t on promoting ourselves; it’s on how technology can improve our clients’ businesses and their delivery experience. That’s where we’re putting our energy, and it’s paying off.

What would you tell another company considering Rock Hill for an expansion?

For Riverstone, it starts and ends with relationships, with our employees, our clients, our motor carriers, and the communities we serve. We see that same foundation in Rock Hill. It’s a place where those relationships are going to keep growing. We’re in the final 30 to 45 days of this move, and things are changing daily. We’re ready to start this next chapter.
