Invest: Boston leadership summit to highlight Greater Boston’s economic dynamism

3 min read October 2023 — Boston’s role as a hub for innovation and brain-powered industries will be highlighted at the Invest: Boston 2023 Launch Conference on Tuesday, Nov. 21st, from 8:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the UMass Club. The networking and panel event marks the inaugural release of Capital Analytics’ comprehensive report on Boston and Massachusetts’ key industries.

The conference will bring together the state’s top industry and community leaders to discuss the business environment, challenges and growth strategies. Key topics include the changing real estate landscape, healthcare and longevity and the significance of the state’s higher-ed ecosystem, among others.

“The Invest: Boston publication offers a deep dive into the greater region’s major sectors, showcasing insights from high-ranking public and private leaders. From industry CEOs to influential academics, this annual report serves as a vital guide for businesses and investors looking to understand Boston’s vibrant economy,” said Capital Analytics’ President and CEO Abby Melone.

Registration starts at 8:00 AM, followed by an hour-long networking session accompanied by a full American breakfast. The conference will open with a keynote address from Marty Meehan, president of the University of Massachusetts and a strong advocate for education, innovation and economic growth.

The first panel, ‘Building Bay State: Greater Boston’s changing real estate landscape and how the built environment impacts workforce and quality of life,’ will feature John Geraci, managing partner at LGA, LLP, Peter Evans of Hunneman, Kate Dineen of A Better City and Gregory Janey of Janey Construction Management.

The second panel, titled The Longevity Economy: How Boston is leading the shift in care and education for healthier outcomes – and what still needs to be done,’ will be presented by JD Chesloff of Massachusetts Business Roundtable. The Boston Globe’s Jon Chesto will moderate the discussion with the panelists, including Brooks Tingle from John Hancock, Dariush Mozaffarian of Tufts University and MIT AgeLab’s Joseph Coughlin.

The final discussion, ‘Critical Mass: How the state’s higher-ed ecosystem is propelling the future workforce and entrepreneurial community and what that means for growth,’ will be presented by S&G LLP’s Joshua LaPan. Susan Fournier from Boston University Questrom Business School will moderate the panel, which features Robert Johnson of Western New England University and Mahesh Daas of Boston Architectural College.

The conference will close with a keynote address from Lauren Jones, Secretary of Labor and Workforce for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
