Moises Ariza, Office Managing Partner, CBIZ

Moises Ariza, Office Managing Partner, CBIZ Invest: spoke with Moises Ariza, office managing director at CBIZ, a national Professional Services Advisor, about Miami’s momentum as a gateway market, the growing complexity facing middle-market companies, and the company’s expansion in South Florida. “We see a strong alignment between our evolution and the city’s trajectory. As Miami continues to grow and diversify, we believe we are well-positioned to grow alongside it,” Ariza said.

How would you describe the business and investment climate in Miami and Greater South Florida?

Miami holds a vital and strategic position within CBIZ’s national and global growth plans. As a gateway to Latin America and a hub for international business, the market allows us to serve a diverse mix of domestic and multinational clients.

The region continues to show strong momentum, supported by key sectors such as real estate, finance, healthcare, hospitality and technology. These industries align closely with our core services and continue to generate demand for advisory support.

Our Miami office plays a key role within our broader network. It acts as a bridge between our U.S. operations and international engagements, particularly for clients with cross-border interests. By leveraging Miami’s geographic position and multicultural workforce, we are able to support clients expanding into new markets and navigating complex transactions.

For us, Miami is not only a high-performing office, but also a connector and a growth engine within our overall strategy.

What trends are you seeing among companies and investors expanding or relocating to the region, and how are you advising them?

We continue to see strong activity in real estate, healthcare, financial services, and technology. These sectors are driving consistent demand for accounting, tax and advisory services, especially among middle-market companies.

A key shift has been the expansion of our capabilities following CBIZ’s acquisition of Marcum, which had a strong presence in South Florida. This has allowed us to broaden our services, including benefits and insurance, and provide more comprehensive support to clients.

Companies entering the market are increasingly looking for organizations that can offer integrated solutions rather than isolated services. In response, we have expanded both our team and our service offerings. Since our last conversation, we have nearly doubled in size in Miami, in both headcount and capabilities. This growth reflects both the opportunity in the market and the evolving needs of clients that require more sophisticated and holistic support.

What challenges are businesses bringing to advisers, and how is your team helping them navigate growth and uncertainty?

In a competitive environment, attracting and retaining top talent is critical.

At CBIZ, we focus heavily on retention and developing our team members. We invest in our workforce and emphasize growth opportunities within the team.

Our culture is important to us as well. We prioritize diversity, collaboration, and professional development, which helps us attract and retain strong talent. We have also created more flexible career paths to reflect the expectations of today’s workforce.

We advise our clients to take a similar approach. To remain competitive, companies need to rethink traditional career structures and offer more adaptable and appealing work environments.

How are you using technology, data, and AI to improve efficiency and decision-making?

We have made significant investments in AI, data, and IT infrastructure. In some cases, we have partnered with national organizations to develop proprietary tools that we use internally and, when appropriate, offer externally.

We use AI-driven analytics and workflow tools to streamline audit, tax and advisory processes. These tools improve efficiency and accuracy while also enabling us to provide predictive insights to clients.

We also leverage data to help clients manage risk and stay ahead of regulatory changes. In some cases, we share relevant data insights to support their decision-making and strategic planning.

Technology is central to how we differentiate ourselves. Our IT team supports both internal operations and client-facing solutions, including cloud computing, data analysis and software implementation. The goal is to help clients view technology as a strategic asset rather than just an operational tool.

What opportunities do you see ahead for Miami, and how is CBIZ preparing to take advantage of them?

Miami is a key market for CBIZ and is closely aligned with our long-term vision. Our focus is on strengthening client relationships, developing talent, and driving operational excellence. We are committed to delivering innovative, value-driven solutions and insights, while maintaining high ethical standards. Because our local strategy aligns with our national framework, we are able to remain agile and responsive to market needs.

We see strong opportunities in the middle market. We continue to invest in people, technology, and automation to support future growth.

The professional services sector continues to expand, and Miami’s diverse economy increases the opportunity. We are well positioned to continue delivering high-quality services and supporting our clients’ growth.

What trends will most shape the business environment in South Florida over the next three to five years?

South Florida remains an outlier compared to other regions. While some areas are seeing slower growth, Miami continues to attract both people and investment. This creates both opportunities and challenges. Infrastructure will be a key issue as the population grows, and companies will need to ensure they can attract and retain the right talent to support expansion.

For businesses, the challenge will be scaling effectively. As Miami grows, so does complexity. Client needs become more sophisticated, and companies must be prepared to meet those demands.

CBIZ has been in South Florida for over 40 years, and our recent move to Coral Gables marks a new chapter. We see a strong alignment between our evolution and the city’s trajectory.

As Miami continues to grow and diversify, we believe we are well positioned to grow alongside it. CBIZ is ready for the future that Miami brings.
