Holidays in Philadelphia2 min read December 2021 — December is here, which for many means lots of family, food, and fun. This holiday season could be a party-hopping, carol-singing, eggnog-drinking time, but it can also be overwhelming with so much on your plate.  Even if you are cooking for 30 or have a shopping list a mile long, take some time to enjoy the magic of the season. Here’s Invest:’s guide to de-stress your holiday in Philadelphia.

Light Up the Vines

The wineries of the Bucks County Wine Trail will host the second annual Light Up the Vines holiday illumination, including a Holiday Celebration now running through Jan. 2, 2022 at Bishop Estate Vineyard and Winery, Buckingham Valley Vineyards, Crossing Vineyards and Winery, Rose Bank Winery, Rushland Ridge Vineyards and Winery, and Sand Castle Winery. Participating member wineries of the Bucks County Wine Trail will illuminate their vineyards each evening at dusk. Each winery will also have its own hours and special events.

Disney on Ice

Bring the family to celebrate the holidays as Disney on Ice presents Let’s Celebrate at the Wells Fargo Center, featuring 50 Disney characters. Mickey and Minnie host as they relive 14 different Disney tales. All guests over 2 years old must have a ticket. Children 14 and older may not wear costumes.

The Philly Pops

Philly’s favorite holiday tradition is back. Featuring music director and principal conductor David Charles Abell, the POPS offers up another unforgettable celebration. Also featured in this year’s show will be the young virtuoso pianist Charlie Albright.This all-new original program will also feature POPS favorites, including The Philly POPS Festival Chorus, The African Episcopal Church of St. Thomas Gospel Choir, and The Philadelphia Boys Choir.

Christmas in the Castle

For 40 years, the Raymond and Mildred Pitcairn family celebrated Christmas at Glencairn with a concert, a large three-part Nativity scene, a decorated tree and a Christmas day meal. This 45-minute guided tour with stops on five floors invites visitors to explore Pitcairn holiday traditions in their 20th-century castle. The tour features examples of Nativity art in the Glencairn collection with a special emphasis on artwork created by the artists who worked at Glencairn. Visitors can also enjoy the first floor and the World Nativities exhibition at their leisure.

LumiNature at the Philadelphia Zoo

Over a million lights transform the Philadelphia Zoo into a winter wonderland. LumiNature features over 200 illuminated penguins and a 100-foot-long aquarium tunnel. Kids can also ride a new Wilderness Express Train, watch strolling performers, and sip hot chocolate. Plan to arrive 20 minutes before your ticket time.

Philly Christmas Walk

From afternoon through evening, enjoy all that Philadelphia has to offer during the holidays, including lights, shopping and decorations. Take in the Center City loop, Christmas Village, light shows and all of the local favorites. Highlights include the Comcast Experience, Dilworth German Christmas Market and RiverRink.
