Five Pride Events to check out this year in Atlanta

2 min read June 2023 — Atlanta is ready to celebrate Pride all month long. With no shortage of fun events to attend, Focus: explores some of the best ways to celebrate Pride Month this year in Atlanta.  

Atlanta has a robust LGBTQ+ community and Pride celebrations dating back to 1970. The Atlanta Pride of 1970 itself was a tribute to the Stonewall Riots of 1969. The first Atlanta Pride had 100 demonstrators march down Midtown demanding to be treated with respect and dignity. Today, Midtown is a widely known LGBTQ+ friendly neighborhood with great LGBTQ+ nightlife.

Atlanta has been dubbed as “the LGBT capital of the South.”Today, Georgia has a LGBTQ+ population of 425,000, according to the Movement Advancement Project, with many calling Atlanta their home. Atlanta’s Pride Month welcomes a multitude of inclusive environments, events and entertainment. 

Out in the Park 

In partnership with Atlanta Pride, Six Flags Over Georgia offers visitors a chance to enjoy a thrilling Pride event, Out In The Park Day, on June 24. There will be an all you can eat lunch, served from 3-5PM, as well as all the thrill rides Six Flags has to offer. There are a couple different ticket packages available, with the Deluxe Package including two alcoholic beverage tickets.

All Stripes PRIDE Watch Party 

For those who are big soccer fans, this is the can’t-miss event. On June 24,  All Stripes will host an evening of soccer, unity and fun at their watch party. Show support for Atlanta United FC while also supporting the Atlanta LGBTQ+ community. The watch party will take place at the CODA Tech Square venue with the game being showcased on a 72-foot wide LED video display. Throughout the evening there will be tasty food and refreshments offered.

Pride Prom 2023: Pride Masquerade Ball

Sandy Springs’ Battle & Brew restaurant will host a Masquerade themed Pride Prom on June 17. Featuring a costume contest, dancing, food, drink and more, this year’s Pride Prom welcomes everyone to enjoy the fun. A portion of the proceeds from drink purchases will be donated to the nonprofit organization Lost N Found Youth. The prom starts at 8PM.

Pride Month Drag Brunch at Elsewhere Brewing

Starting at 11AM on June 24, there will be a Drag Brunch at Elsewhere Brewing. Visitors will be able to enjoy cocktails, refreshments and tasty food while watching a robust show from some of Atlanta’s drag performers. Tickets start at $17 per person and must be purchased in advance.

Can’t Cancel Pride 

Another highly anticipated Pride event taking place on June 15 is Can’t Cancel Pride. This event will be hosted by dancer, singer, and actress, Jojo Siwa, known for her appearances on Dance Moms and Nickelodeon. The event will have performances from well-known LGBTQ+ performers as well as their allies. Performances include Adam Lambert, Big Freedia & Ciara, Billy Porter, Hayley Kiyoko, Kelsea Ballerini and Kesha. 

This will be a free streamed event in partnership with iHeartRadio. The event can be streamed on iHeartRadio’s facebook, Youtube, Revry TV,  Roku Channel and the Advocate Channel. It begins at 8PM.
