3 min read August 2023 — Leaders at the upcoming Focus: Atlanta 2022-2023 Launch Conference will look to address economic development in Atlanta, diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) efforts in the business community and sustainable growth. The event, which will take place on Sep. 7 from 2PM to 5PM at the Embassy Suites by Hilton Atlanta at Centennial Olympic Park, will celebrate the fifth edition of Focus: Atlanta.
The launch of the Focus: Atlanta 2022-2023 will bring together industry and community leaders from the region to discuss Atlanta’s business community and how to continue making the business landscape strong for the benefit of the region. The event will feature two panel discussions focusing on how the past several years of economic development have shaped the future of Atlanta and the importance of DEI in building a strong business community in metro Atlanta.

Check-in for the event will begin at 2PM with opening remarks will begin at 3PM, followed by the two panel discussions. At the conclusion of the panel discussion, there will be a cocktail and networking hour.
The first panel, ‘Past, Present, Future: How the last five years of economic development have shaped Atlanta and its future’ features panelists Gerald McDowell, executive director of ATL Airport Community Districts; Eloisa Klementich, president and CEO of Invest Atlanta; Jai Ferrell, deputy manager and CMO for Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport; and Jeff Call, managing partner of Bennett Thrasher.
The second panel, ‘Driving Force: Why Diversity, Equity & Inclusion have become and will remain essential factors’ will be presented by Bryan Palmer, CEO for Georgia and Alabama of UnitedHealthcare Group with Patti Garrett, mayor of the City of Decatur, serving as moderator. Panelists include Kim Rousseau, principal and corporate interiors firmwide practice chair of Perkins & Will in Atlanta; Michael Baptiste, vice president of diversity, equity and inclusion at Metro Atlanta Chamber; and Kathryn McClymond, interim president of Oglethorpe University.
