Invest: Charlotte Launch Conference set to highlight growing economy and forward-thinking leaders

3 min read July 2023 — The upcoming Invest: Charlotte 2022-2023 Launch Conference will aim to address workforce challenges, urban development and financial innovation. The event, which will take place on Aug. 10 from 8AM to 11:30AM at the Goodwill Opportunity Campus, marks the official release of Capital Analytics’ fourth edition of Invest: Charlotte.

The launch of Invest: Charlotte 2022-2023 will bring together industry leaders and community advocates to deliberate on Charlotte’s business environment and how to harness its economic potential for the benefit of the region. The event will feature three panel discussions focusing on the current workforce challenges, development in the Queen City and financial innovation.

Check-in at the conference will begin at 8AM with a breakfast networking breakfast hour. The opening remarks kick off at 9AM, followed by an opening a keynote speech by ACC Commissioner Jim Phillips and three panel discussions. 

The first panel, titled ‘Today’s Workforce: Addressing the Realities of Current Workforce Challenges and Finding Opportunities Therein,’ features panelists Scott Bullard, president of Pfeiffer University; Jessica Figenholtz, practice leader and associate principal at Perkins & Will; and Cheryl Richards, CEO of Catapult. The panel will be presented by Connie Ledoux Book, president of Elon University, and moderated by Keith Stanley, CEO of University City Partners.

The second panel, ‘Developing Charlotte: How Continued Growth in the Queen City is Influencing Design, Construction, and Engineering,’ will feature panelists Keith Poettker, chairman & CEO of Poettker Construction; Zach Pannier, business unit leader of DPR Construction; and Steve Daley, president of Optima Engineering. The panel will be moderated by Tim O’Brien, studio manager at LaBella.

The final panel, ‘Current Climate: How Financial Leaders are Innovating and Adjusting to Today’s Economic Landscape,’ includes Crystal German, executive vice president of Self Help Credit Union; Antoinette Tucker-Harris, VP and hub leader at Synchrony; and Holly Welch Stubbing, president & CEO of E4E Relief. Rakesh Gopalan, partner at McGuireWoods LLP, will moderate this panel.
