Invest: Palm Beach launch conference to celebrate fifth anniversary of regional economic report

2 min read January 2024 — With 2024 well underway, Palm Beach County’s business community is in a strong position to set a positive tone for the year ahead. At the official Invest: Palm Beach 2023-2024 Launch Conference, the state of the economy, Palm Beach’s current and future workforce, and transit-oriented development will be central themes. The event, which will take place on Wednesday, Feb. 7 from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. at The Ben Hotel, will celebrate the official release of Capital Analytics’ fifth anniversary edition of Invest: Palm Beach.

During the launch of Invest: Palm Beach 2023-2024, local industry and community leaders will come together to discuss the region’s business climate, how they are leveraging its inherent economic strengths to ensure long-term prosperity for all and what the future may look like. The event will feature three panel discussions that will center on economic trends shaping Palm Beach’s business community, initiatives underway to prepare students for the workforce, and infrastructure needs to enhance mobility throughout Palm Beach County.

Check-in at the conference will begin at 8 a.m. with Melone providing opening remarks at 9 a.m. This will be succeeded by three robust panel discussions.

The opening panel, titled “State of the Economy: How will current trends transform the makeup of Palm Beach’s economy and businesses,” will be moderated by Sandra Ruiz, regional director of the Small Business Development Center at FAU. Panelists will include Andrew Duffell, president of Research Park at Florida Atlantic University, Kirstin Turner, senior managing director of RBC Wealth Management – Palm Beach, and Gary Lesser, managing partner at Lesser, Lesser, Landy, & Smith.

The second panel, “Prioritizing Education: How Palm Beach County’s leaders are preparing students for the workforce of the future,” will feature Ralph Maurer, head of school at Oxbridge Academy, Linda Tretheway, head of school at Rosarian Academy, and Valery Forbes, dean of the Charles E. Schmidt College of Science. Melone will moderate the panel discussion.

The third and final panel of the program, “Moving Forward: An in-depth look at transit-oriented development and infrastructure in Palm Beach County,” will include Yash Nagal, director of Transit Planning at Palm Tran, Dave Dech executive director of Tri-Rail, and Jonathan Hopkins, principal and founder of Smart Mobility Associates (WPBgo) as panelists. CAA Senior Editor Ryan Gandolfo will be the moderator.
