Florida continues to benefit from positive macroeconomic factors, such as its favorable tax landscape, growing population, and dynamic business environment. In the case of the Village of Wellington, it continues to benefit from the growth happening in Palm Beach County. In an interview with Invest:, Michela Green, executive director for the Greater Wellington Chamber, highlighted the evolution of Wellington and chamber efforts to advance the city’s business environment. “We are a boots-on-the-ground chamber that is very active in the community,” Green said.

What makes Wellington an ideal location to live, work, and play in?
One of Wellington’s greatest assets is its exceptional access to top-rated, safe schools, making it an ideal place for families. The community is also home to world-famous equestrian events, with the equestrian industry serving as a powerful economic engine for the region.
Wellington offers year-round community events, fostering connection and engagement across all age groups. The area boasts comprehensive healthcare access, with a wide range of specialists and facilities — residents never need to leave town for world-class care. Notably, Wellington is home to the renowned Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital.
With a growing number of remote-work professionals, Wellington is also a remote-work-friendly community, offering the infrastructure and lifestyle to support flexibility and productivity.
Rounding out its appeal is a strong wellness culture, with many residents embracing alternative and holistic approaches to health and well-being for themselves and their families.
What policy changes is the chamber advocating for at the moment?
The Greater Wellington Chamber is committed to researching and advocating for policy solutions that address the growing demand for midrange housing. While the luxury market remains strong, accessible housing options are essential for those who want to live, work, and thrive in the community.
The Chamber also proudly presents initiatives like the Women of Wellington (WOW) Speaker Series, which is dedicated to empowering and educating young women entrepreneurs, helping them achieve their business and leadership goals.
Looking ahead, the Chamber aims to help build a stronger talent pipeline across key sectors such as service, technology, and healthcare, ensuring the region continues to grow with a skilled and diverse workforce.
What might future development look like in the city?
There is a clear need for the redevelopment of legacy assets. We are watching our Mall at Wellington Green become an entertainment district, bringing new energy and opportunity to the area. The addition of the Palm Beach Improv and Copper Blues, which are set to attract nationally recognized talent, is a strong step in that direction.
Wellington stands at a pivotal moment, where intentional planning, infrastructure investment, and strategic positioning can shape the next era of economic growth. However, this progress must be balanced with affordability, sustainability, and inclusion.
With a median home price of approximately $600,000, it is increasingly difficult for many essential professionals to live where they work. A limited housing inventory threatens to push workers into neighboring communities, potentially impacting talent retention and increasing operating costs for local employers. Addressing these challenges will be critical to Wellington’s continued prosperity.
What is your outlook for the chamber in the near term?
A key priority for the Greater Wellington Chamber is to champion strategic redevelopment. With Wellington largely built out, the focus must shift to evaluating existing assets and identifying opportunities for intentional, future-focused revitalization.
Infrastructure investment and business retention remain top concerns. The Chamber will continue to advocate for thoughtful development that supports growth while minimizing disruption to existing businesses. As a community that balances both seasonal and year-round populations, Wellington must plan carefully to maintain its unique character.
As development accelerates and the community works to attract younger demographics, the Chamber aims to serve as a connector between developers and employers, fostering partnerships that support economic growth. Advocacy for midrange housing solutions will also remain a central focus to ensure a balanced, inclusive community.
By collaborating with neighboring municipalities and business organizations, the Greater Wellington Chamber can amplify regional priorities and push for policies that support long-term prosperity. Additionally, the Chamber will continue to offer advisory support to help members navigate changes related to zoning, funding, permitting, and more.
Looking ahead, the Chamber anticipates strong demand for its signature events, which continue to grow in scope, attendance, and impact each year.
