Tracy Holt, Premier Banker, Lake Michigan Credit UnionAugust 2026 —In an interview with Invest:, Tracy Holt, premier banker at Lake Michigan Credit Union, discussed elevating members’ experience through personalized services, retaining top talent, and meeting emerging trends in finance. “Our biggest asset is our people, and our strength continues to be building relationships,” Holt added.

What recent changes have influenced LMCU’s operations?

One of our biggest changes influencing LMCU’s operations is our strategic growth in the  Central Florida area. We are intentional about building our brand and establishing deep roots in Florida.  That commitment includes opening new branches across the state with our most recent location in Lakewood Ranch.

We want Floridians to know that LMCU is here to stay. And, our vision remains the same throughout the organization,  helping all  members achieve financial dreams for a lifetime.

What recent initiatives will elevate the member experience?

One recent initiative is enhancing our online banking platform so new members can join and complete the entire enrollment process in under five minutes.  The digital improvements allow us to meet members where they are and support how they prefer to manage their banking.   . I’m personally focused on expanding our Premier Banking program across Central Florida, broadening our footprint and delivering personalized, concierge-level service with enhanced product offerings for our high-income and high-net-worth members.

How does LMCU attract and retain top talent to ensure high-quality service?

When thinking about top talent, I immediately think about our culture at LMCU. We lead with a people-first mindset – our members, our employees, and our communities. We offer a wide range of l personal professional development opportunities, including leadership programs, for employees to participate in. We recently launched our first ERG, Women Intentionally Leveraging Leadership, which provides additional resources to support personal and career growth for any interested employee.

How does LMCU adapt to meet emerging trends in consumer banking and wealth management?

Education is a major part of how LMCU adapts to emerging trends and market changes.  We recognize that today’s consumers want clearer guidance and more accessible pathways to financial success.  For example, we work with several local colleges to offer financial literacy workshops, helping students and community members build confidence in areas like budgeting, credit, saving, and long-term planning. This keeps  us closely connected to emerging needs and ensures we’re addressing the challenges people face now while helping them prepare for the future.

What are the biggest opportunities for LMCU amid challenges facing the financial services industry?

The biggest challenge across the board is the uncertainty in the economy. Individuals do not know where to put their faith and trust, or how to plan for the future. Our members can take comfort in the fact that, since our founding in 1933, we’ve continued to grow and are now the 13th largest credit union in the US. But our biggest asset is our people, and our drive to build strong relationships with our members.

We stay connected to the community, and  many of us serve the very areas we live in. We must continue building strong relationships so we can support our members throughout their entire financial journey, from  starting their first savings account to graduating from school, getting married and starting a family to buying a home, starting a business to preparing for retirement.

How does LMCU support local organizations?

We’re involved in so many meaningful initiatives throughout Central Florida.  Through my involvement as a board member with Girl Scouts of West Central Florida, Temple Terrace Uptown Chamber of Commerce, and USF WLP, we are able to actively participate in a wide range of community initiatives. I recently had the privilege of supporting USFs Affinity Program, which provides professional development opportunities for Black and Latino students in the community. Our most recent  community involvement is the annual SHINE events in St. Pete. We invite you to stop by our St. Pete Office and check out the new mural.

Twice a year, throughout the organization, we have an Impact Day where every employee is encouraged to volunteer to support a cause that’s meaningful to them – and we each get a paid day off to do so! LMCU also keeps its employees informed of various opportunities to volunteer in our communities throughout the year, making it easier for us to find a place to make a difference.

What are your key priorities for LMCU’s growth in Florida?

Our goal is to reach one million members by 2029 and serve as a true one-stop-shop for all your financial needs, from mortgages and commercial lending to private wealth and Premier Banking. We want to be the credit union you  rely on to help achieve your financial dreams.
