Orlando’s sporting event footprint becoming a foothold
3 min read March 2024 — In a culmination of decades of dedication, investment, collaboration, and sweat — quite literally — Orlando has been recognized as America’s No. 1 Best Sports Business City for Event Hosting. The recent announcement by the Sports Business Journal (SBJ) has solidified Orlando’s position as a powerhouse in the sporting event industry as Orlando’s sports footprint becomes a foothold.

The major announcement was made at the AdventHealth Arena in the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex, where the 2024 Best Sports Business Cities (BSBC) rankings were revealed. Orlando ranked No. 1, followed by Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Atlanta, and Indianapolis which rounded out the Top 5 cities.

“I truly believe sports has the power to bring our residents together,” Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer said at the event.

“We have become a prominent city in sports…We recently hosted the Olympic Marathon Trials, a great three-hour Orlando showcase on network TV. U.S. Track & Field organizers said they have never had a better host city,” Dyer also told Invest: in a recent interview.

Orlando’s success stems from the vibrant collaboration between world-class venues, dedicated sports commissions, and an enthusiastic community.
